Lust on the Way to Vega!

On a voyage to the star Vega, the crew of the Proteus is awoken to the news that several systems have gotten damaged several light years earlier. In addition to propulsion being down, they soon discover that the system meant to suppress their emotions and sex drive is having the opposite of its intended effect. “Lust on the Way to Vega” reminds me of “Far Centaurus” by Sci-Fi Grand Master A.E. Van Gogt. I read that story as a kid years ago, and remember it making a big impression on me. But it’s more than that.

It combines that same theme with some rocking hard sex, and hard science, all done in the best spirit of the funniest Star Trek episodes. A true tour de force!

I could see this as something Playboy would have published back in its heyday in the mid-60s. Although thinking back, it might have been a bit over the top for them even then. Well done!
